Stacking a brick.

5k relatively easy might not seem as much. But it is a brick. A brick towards a bigger goal. A PB on the next race. Or a marathon that I don't feel completely beaten by.

Lately, I have not been able to stack as many bricks as I would like. I've had to take it easy because of various injuries.

When a day goes by that I did not manage to stack a brick I can feel that my goals get farther and farther away. And that makes me sad. I know that the consistency of stacking small bricks is what matters the most.

I realized this brick stacking analogy when I was out on this run. That's probably my main reason for running. For making my brain come up with ideas. And for making my body feel good.

As for the running goals? I have to change the types of bricks to adapt to injuries. Perhaps that means more rehab exercises. Perhaps that means resting. Perhaps it means doing alternative training. I just have to keep trying. Find the bricks to stack and stack them carefully. And remember that the stacking is the point. It's the stacking that makes me feel good and come up with ideas.
