Gypsy was a modeless editor.
What surprised me in the demo was that Gypsy also had "dynamic command menus" from what I gathered. You could type a command in the editor, mark the text in italic, and when you clicked it, it was interpreted as a command. This feels similar to what Jef Raskin proposes in The Humane Interface.
You could even build forms like this, right in the document. Something like "Replace <this> with <that>". Totally eliminating modes.
What is Rickard working on and thinking about right now?
